The 2019 International Korfball Federation’s World Korfball Championship finals match will be held on August 10, 2019 between Belgium and the Netherlands in Durban, South Africa.

Twenty countries qualify every 4 years for the tournament which has been hosted all around the world since 1978. The sport has been dominated by Netherlands, having won 9 out of 10 world championships, with Belgium coming in 2nd place in each of those instances.  Belgium is the only other team to have won the championship back in 1991.

Korfballis a ball sport, with similarities to netball and basketball. It is played by two teams of eight (8) players with four (4) female players and four (4) male players in each team. The objective is to throw a ball into a netless basket that is mounted on a 3.5 m (11.5 feet) high pole.

Captains, leading scorers, or most valuable players (MVPs) of both national teams may potentially qualify for an EB-1 Green Card based on their achievements in Korfball on the international stage having dominated the field since the inception of the tournament in 1978.
